No relief from heat in Las Vegas Valley’s hottest week of the year

The Las Vegas Valley will see a slight warming trend in the year’s hottest week.

The third week of July is the hottest week of the year on average, National Weather Service meteorologist John Adair said.

Wednesday saw a high of 108 degrees and a low of 88 degrees, according to the weather service.

Conditions will be mostly sunny, and there won’t be a lot of change through the week, Adair said.

Thursday is expected to have a high of 108 degrees and afternoon winds from the south and southwest. Wind speeds will be between 10 and 15 mph with gusts near 20 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday will have similar windy conditions and a high near 110 degrees, Adair said. These temperatures are above normal, but not high enough to break the 114 degree record high set in 1937.

Saturday and Sunday will have highs of 111 degrees and 110 degrees, respectively, according to the weather service. Meteorologist Nathan Foster said that if Saturday’s high reaches 111 degrees, it will be the hottest day of July so far.

Foster said the average high temperature for the third week of July is 105 degrees.

The weather service encourages people to prepare for the heat and take precautions to stay cool.
