Valley to thaw out after freezing weekend temperatures

Here are two words of comfort if your bones ache because of the cold this morning: warming trend.

Temperatures Monday reached 51 degrees, National Weather Service meteorologist John Salmen said. That's about 8 degrees below normal.

McCarran International Airport on Monday morning reported the second freeze of the season—for the second day in a row—with a low of 32 degrees, meteorologist Chad Shafer said.

Tuesday's forecast includes a low temperature of 36 degrees in the morning and an afternoon high of 58 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday should see temperatures in the low 60s, Salmen said.

Expect low winds and no precipitation at least through the first half of the week, Shafer said.

A system expected to push across the valley Friday could yield winds and light showers at the most. Depending the strength of the system, temperatures may dip slightly on Saturday, Salmen said.

As things stand now, the Weather Service predicts temperatures in the low 60s through Monday.
