Winds, cold front move into Las Vegas Valley this week

A wind advisory is in effect for the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday, while temperatures will hover around average ahead of a cold front expected to hit this week, the National Weather Service said.

Sunday will reach a high of 89 degrees before “very strong winds” roll through the valley in the evening and overnight, meteorologist Clay Morgan said.

A wind advisory was issued starting at 5 p.m. Sunday and ending 2 p.m. Monday for northerly wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph, the Las Vegas Fire Department tweeted. Gusts up to 50 mph were possible.

Monday and Tuesday’s highs will be 74 degrees and 77 degrees, respectively, with lows of 61 degrees and 55 degrees, Morgan said.

“Then, we warm back up a bit for Wednesday,” he said. The high will be 84 degrees; the low, 57 degrees.

This week, expect clear skies and dry weather, Morgan said.
