Roundup: Shaira Young, late run power Bishop Gorman in San Diego

Tied going into the fourth quarter, Bishop Gorman’s girls basketball team used a 13-0 run in the final frame and rode 27 points from Shaira Young to knock off Oak Ridge (California) 52-47 in the So Cal Holiday Prep Classic in San Diego on Wednesday.

Oak Ridge jumped out to a five-point lead in the fourth before the Gaels went on their run. The Trojans brought it within two points, but the Gaels clinched the game with free throws at the end.

Young made five 3-pointers for the Gaels, and Georgia Ohiaeri had nine points.

Megan McConnell led the Trojans with 12 points, and Marie Olson scored 11.

Desert Oasis 47, Hillsboro (Ore.) 24 — At Lake Oswego, Oregon, Desi-Rae Young scored 12 points to lead the Diamondbacks over the Spartans in the Nike Interstate Shootout.

Desert Oasis held Hillsboro to two points in the third quarter, and led 42-14 after the third quarter.
