SOFTBALL: Durango rallies in sixth inning to down Bishop Gorman

Durango’s softball team scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 12-8 victory over visiting Bishop Gorman on Thursday.

Kaitlin Fazendin had two doubles for the Trailblazers, and Marlie Rodriguez was 2-for-3.

Monique Passalacqua homered twice and had six RBIs for the Gaels.

Sierra Vista 18, Clark 0 — At Clark, Jessica Schneider didn’t allow a hit in three innings and went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Mountain Lions to a victory over the Chargers.

Schneider finished with five strikeouts.

Jamie Kalaau-Sunia went 2-for-2 with two doubles, and Ryan Watkins was 2-for-2 with a double for Sierra Vista.

Sierra Canyon (Calif.) 1, Rancho 0 — At Fresno, California, Sarah Schneider hit an RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Trailblazers the win over the Rams in the Washington Union Invitational.

Sam Pochop went the distance for Rancho, allowing four hits and striking out 15. Gianna Carosone and Yvette Sanchez each had a double for the Rams.

Kingsburg (Calif.) 2, Rancho 0 — At Fresno, California, the Vikings scored twice in the top of the first inning and held on to top the Rams in the Washington Union Invitational.

Pochop came on after the first two batters reached, and allowed three hits in seven innings. She struck out seven.

Boulder City 18, Desert Pines 1 — At Boulder City, Alea Lehr was 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBIs as the Eagles rolled to the three-inning win over the Jaguars.

Bailey Bennett-Jordan went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, and Marleena Mills and Allison Whittle each went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Boulder City.

Bennett-Jordan threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts to get the win.

Moapa Valley 23, Sunrise Mountain 8 — At Overton, Kaitlyn Anderson was 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs as the Pirates downed the Miners in three innings.

Halle Bennet tripled for Moapa Valley, and teammate Kessa Evans was 4-for-4 with a double.

Cheyenne 8, Virgin Valley 5 — At Mesquite, Madelynn Kennedy had two hits, and Victoria Rosales drove in two runs to lead the Desert Shields past the Bulldogs.

Kennedy struck out seven in four innings to get the win.

Taylor Ostrowski and Abbie Boss each drove in two runs for Virgin Valley.

The Meadows 21, Mountain View 6 — At Mountain View, Rachel Siegel was 2-for-2 with a triple, four runs and an RBI as the Mustangs beat the Saints in three innings in the opener.

Nia Van Kempen was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for Mountain View.

The second game was stopped in the second inning because of high winds with The Meadows leading 13-4.

Spring Valley at Bonanza — High winds caused the game to be suspended in the bottom of the first inning with the Grizzlies leading 4-2.

Western at Tech — The game was suspended after two innings because of windy conditions with the Roadrunners leading 1-0.

Mojave at Chaparral — The game between the Rattlers and Cowboys was postponed due to windy conditions.
