Roundup: First-period pins help Shadow Ridge top Arbor View

Shadow Ridge’s wrestling team recorded four pins in less than a minute Wednesday en route to a 62-12 road win over Arbor View.

Marc Williams needed just 21 seconds to pin his opponent at 160 pounds for the Mustangs. Gabriel Talledo (120), Triston Curtis (126) and Ashton King (195) also pinned their opponents in less than a minute for Shadow Ridge.

Tehani Soares (113), Matt VanRiel (132), Weston Presser (138), Jake Anderson (145) and Noah Gallardo (182) also had first-period pins for Shadow Ridge.

Faith Lutheran 37, Centennial 29 — At Faith Lutheran, John Villano pinned his opponent in 42 seconds at 113 pounds to lead the Crusaders past the Bulldogs.

Marino Sebastian (126), Noah Vernon (138) and Keisel Perez (170) also had pins for Faith Lutheran.

Centennial’s Izaiah Ieremia won by fall at 285.

Las Vegas 78, Canyon Springs 6 — At Canyon Springs, the Wildcats won 7 matches by forfeit en route to the easy win over the Pioneers.

Trace Everett (120), Samuel Mangum (138), Nathan Rhoads (145), Jakob Alvarado (160), Jonathan Broadhead (195) and Joseph Hernandez (285) won by fall for Las Vegas.

Boulder City 70, Moapa Valley 6 — At Boulder City, the Eagles won six matches by forfeit and rolled past the Pirates.

Thorsten Balmer pinned his opponent in 55 seconds to win hsi 182-pound match to lead Boulder City.

Cade Cowley (170), Jimmy Dunagan (195) and Mike Kaposta (285) also won by fall for the Eagles.

Coronado 57, Basic 24 — At Coronado, Spencer Brock (106), Dominic Batara (126) and David Darlington (160) each won by fall in less than a minute to lead the Cougar to the win over the Wolves.

Kevin Burdalski (138), Andrew Olson (145), Cory Hannold (152) and Jordan Marzka (195) also had pins for Coronado.

Ivan Espinoza (182), Dominick Gould (220) and Julio Duron (285) won by fall for Basic.

Desert Pines 66, Legacy 15 — At Legacy, the Jaguars rolled past the Longhorns.

Spanish Springs leads 4A state wrestling

Spanish Springs, which edged the Gators by two points last season, has the first-day lead at the Class 4A state wrestling tournament with 110½ points.

Mountain Region: Matthew Rodgers’ win lifts Cimarron to title

Cimarron-Memorial’s Matthew Rodgers avenged three regular-season losses to Shadow Ridge’s Marc Williams by winning 3-1 in overtime in the 160-pound division, to help the Spartans win the region championship, 231-228½.

Mountian Region: Faith Lutheran’s Connor Bourne eyes region crown

Connor Bourne, who has a 171-29 record during his high school career after pinning Eldorado’s Marques Anaya-Casarez in the 182-pound quarterfinals on Friday, will face Centennial’s Ike Edwards in Saturday’s semifinal round, which begins at 10 am at Bonanza.
