1 dead after shooting at home near Lone Mountain

A shooting left one man dead in the driveway of his west valley home Wednesday evening near Lone Mountain, Las Vegas police confirmed.

Officers responded to the 4740 Sweeping Glen St. home just after 7:30 p.m. — near Lone Mountain Road and Cliff Shadows Parkway — and medical crews pronounced the man dead on scene, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

The shooting stemmed from an argument between the man, in his 30s, and a woman, in her 50s. Police said the two were dating.

The argument ended outside, where the woman fatally shot the man once with a shotgun, Metro homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said. It is unclear whether it was in self-defense.

She was detained on scene Wednesday night and spoke briefly with police before requesting a lawyer. As of 10:30 p.m., Metro was still researching if police had responded to any previous calls at the home.

The man's body was still on the driveway three hours after the shooting. Until his body was moved and examined, it would remain unclear whether he had any weapons at the time of the shooting.

As detectives took crime scene photos, the photo flashes illuminated a red truck still parked in the couple's driveway.
