2-year-old girl killed in North Las Vegas hit-and-run identified

The 2-year-old girl killed in a hit-and-run Sunday evening in North Las Vegas has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Evelyn Green was struck by a white van on Thomas Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Sunday and taken to North Vista hospital by her parents, police said. She later died of her injuries.

North Las Vegas police officer Aaron Patty said no arrests have been made, and police are looking for a "white panel van" that witnesses say hit the child and left the scene.

The child may have been trying to cross the residential street at the time. It is not known if the girl lived in the neighborhood, police said.

Patty said the driver of van is described as a Hispanic man in his 40s with facial hair. Police believe the man knew he hit the child before fleeing the scene. Police will investigate if drugs or alcohol are a factor.

No further information was immediately available.
