New Year’s fireworks to dirty Las Vegas air
Smoke from New Year’s Eve fireworks could affect air quality in Las Vegas.
Clark County officials issued an air quality advisory Tuesday morning as a precaution to party-goers. The advisory is for Tuesday night and Wednesday.
More than 10,000 circuits will ignite 88,000 pyrotechnics from seven Las Vegas Boulevard resorts — MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian and the Stratosphere hotel-casinos — lasting more than eight minutes.
Smoke and dust could aggravate respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and asthma, officials said.
Children and elderly people with respiratory problems were advised to stay indoors.
