Marshawn Lynch still adjusting to Raiders’ running scheme

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Where is Marshawn Lynch?
In the past two weeks, Lynch has carried the ball 15 times for 30 yards and no touchdowns. This is unlike his first two games, in which he combined for 121 yards on 30 carries with one TD.
The answer to Lynch’s whereabouts could be found after Sunday’s 12-yard performance against the Denver Broncos. It came while being thousands of feet in the air.
“He sat down with us on the plane,” left tackle Donald Penn said Thursday. “He sat down and watched some film with me and Rodney (Hudson) asking us what we’re reading and what we’re thinking on this.”
Penn said Lynch is still trying to adjust to Oakland’s running scheme, which is different from the one Seattle ran with Lynch. He spent extra time with offensive line coach Mike Tice to get more comfortable with the offense.
“He’s definitely getting better, but the thing is I know what he’s doing this week,” Penn said. “He is spending a lot of extra time, he is meeting with my offensive line coach, getting some behind-the-scenes stuff on their own to get stuff going.”
Despite Lynch’s struggles, offensive coordinator Todd Downing is still confident in his veteran running back.
“Marshawn is doing well with the things that we’re asking him to do, we just haven’t hit it with the same sense of efficiency that we did the first couple of weeks,” Downing said. “We look forward to seeing what Marshawn can do this week and watch our offensive line be physical.”
