Motorcyclist ‘extremely critical’ after west Las Vegas crash

Updated December 29, 2017 - 12:57 pm

A motorcyclist was hospitalized after a Wednesday morning crash in the west valley, Las Vegas police said.

Police were called just before 8 a.m. to the intersection of Fort Apache Road and Katie Avenue, near Twain Avenue, for a crash between a motorcycle and a car, Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

The motorcyclist, 22-year-old Elijah Edwards, was traveling south on Fort Apache when a woman driving a 2011 Honda Fit turned left from Katie and was hit by the motorcycle. The Honda then hit a cinder block wall.

Edwards was taken to University Medical Center in “extremely critical” condition, police said. Police later said the driver of the car, 32-year-old Kathryn Kelly, was hospitalized at UMC with moderate injuries.

Traffic was temporarily shut down at all directions at the intersection.
