Driver pulled from car seconds before Caltrain smashes it — VIDEO

A deputy dragged a driver from a car stuck on train tracks in Sunnyvale, Calif., on Monday, moments before a Caltrain smashed into the vehicle.

San Mateo County sheriff's deputies Lance Whitted and Erik Rueppel were responding to a nearby call when they saw the car, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Rueppel ran to the tracks attempting to slow down the train and eventually dragged the man from the car. Seconds later, the Caltrain smashes into the front end of the sedan, destroying it.

“I don’t think there was time to be scared,” Rueppel told the San Francisco Chronicle. “You just kind of do things as safe as you can and respond and that’s it. It kind of just happens.”

No injuries were reported.
