New Albertsons coming to western Las Vegas March 23

A Summerlin neighborhood will soon get back its full-service grocery store.

Albertsons said Monday that it has scheduled the grand opening of its new store at 1940 Village Center Circle for March 23 at 10 a.m.

There’ll be a ribbon-cutting featuring Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Las Vegas Councilman Bob Beers and executives with Albertsons, Summerlin and Christensen Development, which owns the Trails Village Center that Albertsons will anchor.

At the event, Albertsons plans to donate $55,000 in grants to the Mariachi Ensemble from Del Sol High School; US Vets of Las Vegas; Nevada Veteran’s Foundation; Nevada Veteran’s Assistance League; and Catholic Veterans of Nevada Charity Foundation.

After the ribbon-cutting, shoppers will be able to sample cake, ice cream and other foods inside the store. The first 1,000 customers will receive reusable canvas grocery bags.

Albertsons replaces the shuttered Haggen store, which closed in November after less than four months in the center. Before Haggen took the space as part of a regional expansion, Vons operated out of the spot.

The new store will have a floral showroom, a full-service sushi counter, an expanded area for wine and craft beers, and expanded bakery, deli and cheese departments.
