Tyler Turnipseed was named chief game warden for the Nevada Department of Wildlife Aug. 18. He is the fifth chief in the department’s history, a position that oversees all game wardens in Nevada. Game wardens enforce wildlife and boating safety laws across the state in rural areas and on Nevada’s waterways.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation appointed James Kilber, executive director of Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, to its board of directors. Kilber has been involved with and supported the foundation for the past seven years.

The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada welcomed Holly Reese as senior and transgender programs manager. In this new role, Reese will oversee the senior and transgender programming, which includes conducting outreach, implementing new programs, planning special events and more.

Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas received $1,000 from The Allstate Foundation in honor of the volunteerism of one of its members, Allstate agent Misty Chadwick.

Robert Louis Blackwell, son of Robert Blackwell of Las Vegas, completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy. Blackwell entered West Point on July 2 and has successfully completed six weeks of training. He is a graduate of the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus.

Air Force Airman Michael R. Hempen graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Hempen is the son of Lorna and Robert Hempen and the brother of Michael A. Hempen of Las Vegas. He is a 2013 graduate of Arbor View High School.

Air Force Airman Nicholas A. Ketcham graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Ketcham is the son of Teresa A. Rampsch and Richard A. Ketcham of Henderson and is a 2013 graduate of Silverado High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Joseph Parsons graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Parsons is the son of Johnna and Ron Parsons of North Las Vegas. He earned an associate degree in 2012 from the College of Southern Nevada’s Cheyenne campus.

Vocal impressionist Véronic DiCaire met with Lend Your Voice charity Olive Crest on Aug. 15 to donate funds raised during her June campaign. Throughout the month, DiCaire raised $1,936 for Olive Crest by encouraging audience donations during her show, “Veronic Voices,” at the Jubilee Theater at Bally’s Las Vegas.

Christian Sypavongsay of Las Vegas graduated Aug. 16 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Sydney Bland and Justine Espersen of Las Vegas made the spring 2014 dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill.

Megan M. Watters, an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo., graduated from the Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Knox, Ky. Watters is the daughter of Kelly L. Watters of Henderson.

Air Force Airman Daniel P. Kielty graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Kielty is the son of Lorinda and Edward Kielty of Henderson and is a 2013 graduate of Foothill High School.

Air Force Airman Austin W. Holbert graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Holbert is the son of Carol I. Wytko and William H. Holbert, stepson of Noel D. Wytko, grandson of Stephanie Nelson and nephew of Aimee Wise, Roy Calvert, James J. Calvert and Matthew Wise, all of Las Vegas. He is a 2013 graduate of Arbor View High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman Dayna L. Yamaguchi graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Yamaguchi is the daughter of Dayne T. and Jennifer L. Yamaguchi of North Las Vegas and is a 2012 graduate of Rancho High School.
