In Case You Missed It: Basketball’s dreaded non-ending

What’s worse than a tie in sports?

We may have found an answer. The non-ending.

The hard-fought game between Grandview and Prosser high schools in Washington was tied at 65 with about 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Prosser was working the clock and looking for an open shot when an errant pass landed in the hands of one of the Grandview players who quickly started a fast break with just 3 seconds left to play.

In two swift passes the ball was at the other end of the court. Up goes the game-winning shot and … and … the ball just. Sits. There. Parking itself on the back of the rim.

Ugh. The dreaded dead ball and your annoying non-ending.

At least we got overtime.

In the OT Grandview, which was initially robbed by the sticky rim, again made a steal. But this time, Isaiah Gonzalez’s layup went through the hoop as the buzzer sounded preserving the Greyhounds’ undefeated season.

I wonder if soccer could figure out a way to incorporate the non-ending.
