Early morning house fire in south Las Vegas sends 1 person to hospital

A house fire near the M Resort in the southern valley sent one person to the hospital and heavily damaged the home early Friday morning.

The Clark County and Henderson fire departments responded to the fire at a two-story, single-family home at 303 Morning Crest Ave., near St. Rose Parkway and Bermuda Road, about 1:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews reported a “large volume of fire on the ground floor,” which extended upstairs to the second floor. The fire was put out by 2:10 a.m., according to CCFD.

Metro detained a “combative” man who was in the house when the fire started, Assistant Fire Chief Larry Haydu said.

The man requested medical attention and was transported to the hospital.

The amount of damage to the home and cause of the fire have yet to be determined.
