Family hospitalized after house fire in southwest Las Vegas

A fire Saturday morning in the southwest valley sent a family of six to the hospital, the Las Vegas Fire Department said.

Just before 5 a.m., firefighters from the Las Vegas and Clark County fire departments responded to the Regency Place Apartments located at 2800 S. Decatur Blvd, near West Sahara Avenue, spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

The fire remained in one unit of the 28 unit, two-story apartment building. The kitchen and the living room are completely gutted and the rest of the unit has smoke damage, he said. No other apartments were affected by the fire.

Three adults and three children were taken to University Medical Center for minor smoke inhalation, Szymanski said.

The American Red Cross is helping the family, he said.

The cause is under investigation. Damages are estimated at $75,000, Szymanski said.
