A Las Vegas man who was injured while hiking in rugged northwest Arizona terrain was rescued dramatically Monday.
Sean Taylor, 39, used a cellphone to summon help when he fell and injured his head and one hand while descending a canyon on Mount Tipton, just southeast of Dolan Springs.
Mohave County Search and Rescue deployed about 4:30 p.m. to the area where Taylor fell. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Trish Carter said it took a rescuer about four hours to help Taylor down the mountain to a spot where helicopter rescue was possible.
Carter said the Public Safety Department helicopter hovered as the rescuer helped Taylor step from a rock onto a skid and up into the aircraft’s cabin. Taylor was flown to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
