Man killed while sleeping under truck identified
The man who died after being run over by a semitrailer near downtown Sunday morning was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office on Tuesday.
David Schaeffer, 50, was sleeping under a semitrailer at 300 N. Sixth St., near Mesquite Avenue, sometime between 8 and 10:15 a.m., Las Vegas police.
Schaeffer was found dead after the driver of the truck pulled away, police said. The exact cause of death was not released by the coroner.
Though it was not clear if the driver was aware that the man was underneath the unidentified white trailer, police said they are investigation Schaeffer’s death as a hit-and-run.
