Motorcyclist dies after crash near MLK, US-95

A motorcyclist died following a Saturday morning crash with a car in the central valley, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

First responders were called to northbound Martin Luther King Boulevard, just north of the U.S. Highway 95 off ramp shortly after 8:30 a.m. The crash involved a sedan and a motorcycle.

The man was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, NHP trooper Loy Hixson said. He died soon after, according to a Tweet from the highway patrol.

Northbound Martin Luther King was closed between the 95 off ramp and Bonanza while the accident was investigated, Hixson said. It reopened about three hours after the crash, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada said.

A motorcycle rested on its side and a damaged sedan ended up on a curb. A trooper on the scene said that a “serious-accident” unit was en route.
