Motorcyclist killed in east Las Vegas crash
A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon after a multiple-vehicle crash in east Las Vegas.
About 1:50 p.m., a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling north on Eastern Avenue in the right lane and neared the intersection with Twain Avenue, police said. A Toyota Corolla, driven by 69-year-old Patricia Hughes, was stopped in an eastbound lane at Twain and was prepared to turn left, according to the police investigation.
At the same time, a Honda Fit, driven by 67-year-old Concepcion Mills, was turning left from southbound Eastern to eastbound Twain, police said. As the Honda turned, it crossed in front of the motorcycle, which hit the front right of the car, police said.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 47-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle and slid to a rest on the street. The crash turned the Honda northeast, and it scraped the Toyota’s left side, police said.
The Honda driver and the motorcyclist were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. The Honda driver was released with minor injuries, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead, police said.
The Toyota driver was not injured and stayed at the scene, police said.
The motorcyclist will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office once his family has been notified.
Metro said this was the 45th traffic-related fatality in their jurisdiction for 2016.
