Motorcyclist killed in northern Las Vegas crash identified

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the northern valley Sunday night, Las Vegas police said.

The rider of the motorcycle, identified by the Clark County coroner's office as 27-year-old Joshua Connell of North Las Vegas, was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.

The motorcycle riden by Connell collided with a car on Bradley Road south of Azure Drive, near North Decatur Boulevard and the 215 Beltway, just after 7:30 p.m., according to a Metro news release.

The 2001 Honda CBR motorcycle and a 2013 Nissan Sentra were northbound on Bradley when the Nissan slowed to turn right at the intersection, Metro said. The motorcycle, which police said was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of the Nissan.

Police said the driver of the Nissan stayed at the scene and did not appear to be impaired.

This is the 12th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction for 2016.
