One man hospitalized, one family displaced after east valley apartment fire

One man was hospitalized and a family was displaced after a fire tore through an east valley apartment building Thursday night.

The blaze at 4658 Tracylynn Lane, near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, began around 8:06 p.m., said Sandra Baker, Clark County Fire assistant chief. Firefighters arrived within six minutes and the blaze was out in another five.

The man was hospitalized for burns, Baker said. Though the family that lived below him was displaced, she said they did not need the Red Cross' assistance.

The fire happened in a four-unit apartment building, but Baker said only the man's upper unit and the family's lower one were affected.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire but early estimates placed damages at about $40,000.
