Southeast Las Vegas house fire causes $25,000 in damages

An afternoon house fire in the southeast valley caused $25,000 in damages Saturday, the Clark County Fire Department said.

The department responded to a fire at 3032 Phoenix St. near McLeod Drive around 2:45 p.m., Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said. Incoming units were told an elderly woman was trapped by the fire on the balcony.

Upon arrival, personnel found smoke coming from a two-story house. Crews laddered the house, attacked the fire and put it out in 10 minutes. The fire was in the kitchen, Buchanan said.

The occupant was evaluated on scene and did not get transported to a hospital. Firefighters were also able to locate and remove pets from the home.

Damages are estimated at $25,000. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
