North Las Vegas City Council OKs $919,000 for new software

Aiming to streamline tasks, the North Las Vegas City Council approved $919,000 to fund new planning and business licensing software.

The software deal continues technology upgrade trend. In February, the city approved $2.2 million to fund new public works software. A $74,000 redesign of the city’s website debuted that month.

The EnerGov Permitting and Land Management Suite software approved Wednesday comes with one year of maintenance and support. According to a press release by Tyler Technologies Inc., the city of Henderson began using EnerGov software in 2014.

Terry Fletcher, North Las Vegas’ business applications supervisor in information technologies, said the software will make the planning, business licensing, and building inspections departments more efficient and will eventually allow more business-related applications to be submitted online.

The city’s current software was purchased in 2000 and has been updated twice. But, Fletcher said, getting new software made more sense long-term than upgrading again. Project funds were approved in the most recent capital improvement plan and city budget.
