NYPD detective recorded berating Uber driver — VIDEO

A detective with the New York Police Department is being investigated after a video surfaced of him berating an Uber driver in New York City’s West Village.

The Uber driver was confronted by the officer Monday. Sanjay Seth was pulled over for a traffic violation and then the officer unleashes an angry tirade against him, mocking his broken English, Business Insider reports.

The driver’s passenger, Seth, uploaded the video to YouTube.

“In an unmarked car, the policeman was allegedly attempting to park without using his blinker at a green light,” Seth wrote in the video’s description. “The Uber driver pulled around and gestured that he should use his blinker, casually and non-offensively, and kept driving us. The policeman quickly pulls up behind us and this is what happens.”

The New York Daily News identified the officer as Detective Patrick Cherry, and said he is being investigated by NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau.

Cherry is seen in the video yelling at the Uber driver, hitting his car with his hands and mocking the driver. When the driver apologizes, the officer yells, “You don’t let me f—-ing finish! Stop interrupting me!”

An Uber spokesman declined to release the name of the driver.
