Downtown Crown brings 24-hour menu to Arts District

You don’t have to be British to be a fan of the Crown, but in Las Vegas, that means you’re more likely to be waving a pint rather than waving at royalty.

Crown & Anchor British Pub is a valley mainstay, with two locations at 1350 E. Tropicana Ave. (the original) and 4755 Spring Mountain Road. Now, the brand has welcomed a sister location into the group, Downtown Crown Pub inside The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 150.

Fans of Crown & Anchor will find familiar fare on the Downtown menu, including the house favorite chicken curry (chicken breast and vegetables in a spicy sauce, served over rice or fries with naan bread), Authentic English Fish & Chips (a half pound of beer-battered Icelandic cod served with fries and peas), and lamb stew in a Yorkshire pudding (chunks of beef, potato and vegetables in stew made with Guinness stout in a giant Yorkshire pudding, which is a kind of crust made from a batter of eggs, flour and milk or water).

The British Pies and Starters side of the menu includes steak and mushroom pie or steak and kidney pie (each $12.95), both braised in onion gravy sauce made with Guinness stout and red wine. Other British-inspired selections are the sausage roll ($5.50), Bangers & Mash ($10.50) and Scotch Egg ($5.95), a hard-boiled egg wrapped in spiced sausage and served with mustard sauce. From the sandwich menu, Banger On A Bun is two English-style sausages and grilled tomato on a roll, served with fries or English Heinz baked beans.

For those with more traditionally American tastes, the menu also has a variety of salads, sandwiches, burgers (there is a veggie burger available), fries and traditional bar appetizers such as chicken wings, onion rings, potato skins, chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks.

Along with the 24-7 menu, the Downtown Crown location also features a full bar and weekly promotions. Happy hour is from 5 to 7 p.m. daily with half-price well drinks, house wines and domestic draft beer.
