1. (Monkey): The exhibition is scheduled by appointment through Feb. 20 at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. The annual invitational fine art exhibit focuses on Chinese heritage. Because the coming 2016 Chinese New Year is the Year of the Monkey, artists are asked to make pieces that include the monkey and signifiers, images, or visual concepts that honor and celebrate Chinese tradition. Big Game 10K: The running festival is set to offer a 10K, a 5K and a Combo Challenge (10K and 5K) and Kids Fun Run Feb. 7 in downtown Las Vegas to benefit the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation. The event is also set to feature the three-day Big Game Health and Fitness Expo, with mini-sessions of meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, healthy meal prepping and tips on SMART goal setting. A costume contest is planned for race day Feb. 7 at 7:20 a.m., to be followed by the Kids Fun Run at 7:30 a.m., the 5K at 8 a.m., and the Big Game 10K at 8:30 a.m., with the 5K and 10K races starting at Carson Avenue and Eighth Street and finishing at Fremont and 10th streets. Aquatic classes: High School Tune-up swim classes are planned through Feb. 20 at Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road. The classes are meant to teach and improve swimming techniques and build endurance by learning how to use a diving block and make flip turns. Friday class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will focus on strokes and technique, and Saturday class from 9 to 10:30 a.m. will focus on endurance, starts and turns. The tune-up classes are $4 per visit.
