The Las Vegas Valley received its first taste of monsoon moisture Tuesday, bringing a rainy forecast that is expected for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday saw a high of 109 degrees, a thunderstorm and cloudy skies, meteorologist Caleb Steele said. The thunderstorm stretched from Henderson, Anthem and Mountain Springs as it headed north, he said.

There is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms, which can bring winds that could approach 60 mph, Steele said.
Clark County’s Air Quality Department has extended its ozone and smoke advisory through Thursday. Wildfires in California and Lovell Canyon, 25 miles west of Las Vegas, will raise levels of smoke and particulates in the valley’s air.
The department advises residents to limit outdoor exertion, keep windows shut in cars and homes, and run air conditioning.
