Rain returns to Las Vegas Thursday and extends into weekend

Rain could start falling in Las Vegas on Thursday night and last through the weekend.

Wednesday is expected to see partly to mostly sunny skies with a high of 92 degrees and a low of 67, National Weather Service meteorologist Chad Shafer said.

“Wednesday’s high temperature is 5 to 10 degrees above normal,” Shafer said. “The roller coaster temperature ride continues.”

Strong winds are expected from Wednesday through Friday, Shafer said. Wind speeds should be 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain from Thursday to Saturday, Shafer said. Thursday’s forecasted high is 86 degrees with a low of 59.

Shafer said Friday through Sunday should be in the low 70s with mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday has a 20 percent chance of a storm, he said.

The weekend highs are “well below normal, approaching 10 to 15 degrees below normal,” Shaffer said. “The average is 84 to 85 degrees.”
