Springlike weather stays in the valley

Springlike weather has arrived in the Las Vegas Valley ahead of schedule, with above-average high temperatures, light winds and clear skies.

"The only thing going on is nice temperatures," National Weather Service meteorologist Reid Wolcott said. "That's it."

Thursday's high was 74 degrees, and Friday's high is expected to be 75 degrees. The low overnight Thursday night into Friday is expected to be 46 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

"These temperatures are 10 to 15 degrees higher than normal," Wolcott said.

Despite above-average temperatures, Thursday's record high of 79 degrees will remain unsurpassed.

Saturday's temperature will be consistent with the days prior. Its high will be 74 degrees, the weather service said; its low will be 48 degrees.

Mount Charleston reported that 9 inches of snow remain on the mountain, down from 12 inches Wednesday. The rest of the snow "will probably be gone in a couple days," National Weather Service meteorologist Andy Gorelow said.

Winds are expected to stay calm, Gorelow said, with speeds expected under 5 mph.

If Valentine's Day plans are still up in the air, Sunday's 72-degree high could be ideal for a romantic day outdoors.
