Winds bring in cool temps to Las Vegas Valley

Following a day of high winds and light rain, Las Vegas should see some cooler temperatures and lighter breezes before warming up again.

The high temperature for Monday is expected to be 60 degrees — much closer to the average temperature for this time of year, National Weather Service meteorologist Justin Pullin said.

Temperatures will begin to warm up, with Tuesday’s high expected to reach 69 degrees and Wednesday’s high at 73. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s on Thursday and into the weekend, Pullin said.

Sunday brought rainfall to the valley, but only trace amounts, he said. The rain was not significant enough to dampen the effects of pollen in the air. Mount Charleston received some snow this weekend.

The system, which brought the light showers to Las Vegas, has moved out, Pullin said, but another system moving in Monday brings a slight chance of some showers later on Monday afternoon.

Monday should see wind between 15 and 20 mph, he said, much lighter than the winds on Sunday, which had gusts clocked up to 60 mph in parts of the valley and at Mount Charleston.

Depending on certain variables, Pullin said that Las Vegas could be looking at another system this weekend, likely on Saturday, which could bring another round of rain.
