Police: Toddler hanged by ankles in closet, beaten

CHARLESTON, S.C. — An 18-month-old South Carolina boy is in critical condition after authorities say he was hanged by his ankles in a closet and repeatedly beaten by three teenagers. The three teens, ages 14, 15 and 16, are accused of abusing Louis Wright of Charleston. The child’s mother, Shakera Wright, has also been charged with allowing the beating to occur.

PayPal cuts WikiLeaks from money flow

BERLIN — The online payment service provider PayPal has cut off the account used by WikiLeaks to collect donations, serving another blow to the organization just as it was struggling to keep its website accessible after an American company stopped directing traffic to it. PayPal said the move was prompted by a violation of its policy, “which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity.”
