Raiders vs. Texans game live updates, score from Houston
The Raiders lost to the Houston Texans on Sunday at NRG Stadium, extending their losing streak to nine games.
Quarterback Geno Smith returned to the starting lineup for the Raiders after missing last week’s game at Philadelphia with back and shoulder injuries.
Ashton Jeanty logged 128 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, the rookie’s second career 100-yard rushing performance. He also added a 60-yard receiving score.
Smith was 16 of 23 passing for 201 yards with two touchdowns and a costly interception that was returned for a touchdown by Texans defensive back Derek Stingley Jr.
The Raiders remain in the running for the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.
The Texans have won seven straight.
Here’s how it happened:
Raiders go down swinging against Texans
FINAL: Texans 23, Raiders 21
Nico Collins made a leaping 23-yard reception along the sideline on third down to clinch the win for the Texans, who ran out the remainder of the clock after the catch was upheld by video review.
A great effort by the Raiders falls short. They lose their ninth straight and slip to 2-13, tied with the New York Giants for the worst record in the league.
The Texans improve to 10-5.
Raiders unable to stop Texans late
4Q, 2:00 left: Texans 23, Raiders 21
The Raiders defense can’t get off the field. Rookie cornerback Darien Porter was flagged for a borderline pass interference on third down to extend the drive, and the Texans moved across midfield before the two-minute warning with another key third-down conversion.
The Raiders are out of timeouts and need a stop on third-and-8 on the other side of the break to keep their hopes alive.
Raiders keep fighting, Jeanty scores 2nd TD
4Q, 5:24 left: Texans 23, Raiders 21
Ashton Jeanty broke loose for a 51-yard touchdown run, his second score of the game. Poor tackling from the Texans that time. The Raiders aren’t going away, with three timeouts and plenty of time remaining in Houston.

Jeanty is up to 128 yards on 24 carries along with his 60-yard touchdown reception.
Texans score first offensive TD, extend lead
4Q, 7:44 left: Texans 23, Raiders 14
Dalton Schultz hauled in a 1-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud on play-action. The Texans put together a 10-play, 88-yard march that chewed up 5:54, a gut punch for a Raiders defense that had played so well but appeared to wear down.
The key plays were a 31-yard rumble by Nick Chubb after poor tackling by the Raiders and Lonnie Johnson being called for pass interference in the end zone against Nico Collins on third down, one play before the touchdown.
Raiders’ drive stalls
4Q, 13:35 left: Texans 16, Raiders 14
Tyler Lockett was unable to slip the tackle of Texans defensive back Jalen Pitre, and the Raiders were forced to punt after cross midfield. AJ Cole’s boot is downed at the 10, and the Texans take over there.
Raiders have ball as 3rd quarter ends
End 3Q: Texans 16, Raiders 14
Ashton Jeanty picked up a key first down to keep the Raiders’ drive going as the third quarter came to an end. Jeanty is up to 74 yards on 22 carries as the Raiders continue to chew clock and keep it close.
Raiders coach Pete Carroll has to love the way his team is playing. This is the formula he’s wanted to use all along.
Fairbairn puts Texans back on top
3Q, 3:08 left: Texans 16, Raiders 14
The Raiders defense came up with a huge stop on third-and-1 to force a 49-yard field goal by Ka’imi Faibairn.
Let’s see if the Raiders offense can answer.
Ashton Jeanty finds end zone, Raiders lead
3Q, 9:44 left: Raiders 14, Texans 13
Ashton Jeanty beat linebacker Henry To’oTo’o on the wheel route down the left sideline and hauled in the pass from Geno Smith. Jeanty then broke a tackle from Myles Bryant on his way to the end zone for a 60-yard score.
It is the fifth receiving touchdown of the season for Jeanty and the first lead for the Raiders since Week 11 against Dallas.

Raiders force punt to open 2nd half
3Q, 13:12 left: Texans 13, Raiders 7
The Raiders defense continues to play well and frustrate the Texans. C.J. Stroud doesn’t have 100 yards passing yet. The longer the Raiders hang around, the more it’s starting to feel like they have a chance at the upset.
Raiders halftime stats
QB Geno Smith: 8 of 13, 8 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
RB Ashton Jeanty: 15 carries, 51 yards
TE Brock Bowers: 3 catches, 19 yards, 1 touchdown
WR Jack Bech: 1 catch, 37 yards
LB Devin White: 7 tackles
Raiders hold on final drive of 1st half
HALFTIME: Texans 13, Raiders 7
There were signs of life from the Raiders offense, which produced points for the first time in two weeks. Ashton Jeanty found room on the ground, and Geno Smith was mostly efficient except for his costly interception.
Houston will have the ball to start the second half.
Texans add to lead
2Q, 0:50 left: Texans 13, Raiders 7
Ka’imi Fairbairn knocks through a 50-yarder to extend to Texans’ advantage. The Raiders defense thought it had a fumble return for a touchdown by Eric Stokes, but it was ruled an incomplete pass.
Two-minute warning
2Q, 2:00 left: Texans 10, Raiders 7
The Texans are on the move with halftime approaching. Quarterback C.J. Stroud heated up on this drive, and Houston crossed midfield before the break.
Texans regain lead
2Q, 9:12 left: Texans 10, Raiders 7
Ka’imi Fairbairn connected from 55 yards out after Houston’s drive stalled. It’s his seventh kick of 50 yards or longer this season.
C.J. Stroud continues to misfire for the Texans and is 6-for-12 for 40 yards.
Raiders break scoring drought
2Q, 12:25 left: Raiders 7, Texans 7
Geno Smith hit tight end Brock Bowers in the back of the end zone from 7 yards away to cap a seven-play, 61-yard drive. It is the seventh touchdown of the season for Bowers.

The Raiders offense has been much more aggressive with Smith at the controls than it was last week against the Eagles when Kenny Pickett filled in.
Those were the Raiders’ first points since the infamous field goal at the end of the loss to the Broncos on Dec. 7.
Lockett hurt
Raiders wide receiver Tyler Lockett is in the locker room being evaluated for an injury, according to the CBS broadcast.
Raiders driving as 1st quarter ends
End 1Q, Texans 7, Raiders 0
It’s been a slow start for both offenses, as the Raiders and Texans combined for four first downs, six punts and 106 total yards of offense. The difference is Derek Stingley Jr.’s 31-yard interception return for a touchdown.
The good news for the Raiders is Geno Smith hit Jack Bech for a 37-yard gain deep into Texans territory as the second quarter begins.
Teams trade punts
1Q, 7:08 left: Texans 7, Raiders 0
This is starting to shape up as a low-scoring tussle with the defenses dominating for both teams so far. The Raiders will try to get some offense going as they take over at their own 20-yard line.
Stingley connection to Raiders
Texans defensive back Derek Stingley Jr. is the grandson of former Patriots receiver Darryl Stingley, who suffered a broken neck in a preseason game against the Raiders in 1978 after a violent collision with safety Jack Tatum.
Darryl Stingley was paralyzed from the chest down and never walked again. He died of pneumonia on April 5, 2007.
This is the second time Derek Stingley Jr. faced the Raiders after playing them as a rookie in 2022.
Texans score on pick-6
1Q, 10:43 left: Texans 7, Raiders 0
The Raiders forced a punt, but on the third play of the drive, quarterback Geno Smith rolled to his right and tried to hit running back Ashton Jeanty in the flat. The throw wasn’t close and Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. returned it 31 yards for a touchdown.
It’s the 15th interception of the season for Smith.
Raiders punt on opening drive
Quarterback Geno Smith took a shot down the seam to tight end Michael Mayer that didn’t connect on the opening play, and neither did his next two passes. A quick three-and-out for the Raiders — the drive lasted 23 seconds — and the Texans take over.
Texans win toss
The Raiders will get the ball to start the first quarter.
Uniform combos
No style changes for the Raiders, who are going with the white jerseys, silver pants and silver helmets against the Texans.

Carroll’s on hot seat
With three games remaining in the regular season, Pete Carroll’s future as Raiders coach is in doubt, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Carroll is the oldest coach in NFL history at 74 and not ideal for a long-term rebuild. The Raiders haven’t won since Oct. 12 and fired two of their three coordinators during the season.

The Texans lead the league in points (16.3) and yards (269.2) allowed per game.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud has led the Texans to three straight wins since returning from a concussion.
