Shoppers in the Las Vegas Valley this weekend joined the national Small Business Saturday celebration, an effort established in 2010 to encourage spending at independent retailers and restaurants during the holiday shopping rush.

Three people hospitalized after vehicle crashes into Las Vegas store

A Burlington Coat Factory employee was trapped between a wall and cash register area after a vehicle crashed into the southeast valley store Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred at 4:36 p.m. at the Burlington Coat Factory on 4750 S. Eastern Ave., near Tropicana Avenue.

Semitrailer crash near Strip causes power outage

The semitrailer crashed into a wall, hitting a power box and caught on fire Saturday afternoon, police said. The outage affected more than 570 customers and traffic lights at two intersections, including one at Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. Power is expected to be fully restored by 3 p.m.

Woman arrested in connection with homicide near downtown Las Vegas
