CenturyLink launches 1 Gbps Internet service in Las Vegas

Superfast residential Internet hit west and northwest neighborhoods on Thursday.

CenturyLink Las Vegas launched its 1 Gbps fiber Internet, which is seven times faster than past offerings.

Previously, the fastest residential Internet speed available in Las Vegas was 150 megabits per second through Cox Communications. The highest speed offered by CenturyLink was 40 Mbps.

“Fiber technology is the technology that’s available. There’s nothing faster and we don’t see anything as being faster in the future,” said Jeff Oberschelp, vice president and general manager of CenturyLink Las Vegas. “This is the same infrastructure that’s used to transfer data and video and voice across the country and around the world. Fiber links across the ocean.”

CenturyLink’s 1 Gbps service will be offered in a bundle with Prism TV for $124.94 per month.

Las Vegans can register for updates and express interest in the product at centurylink.com/fiber.
