DARUS SUHARTO

DARUS SUHARTO, 39

TORONTO

POSITION 6: $12,520,000

BACKGROUND

• Suharto, a native of Indonesia, is a certified public accountant. He attended York University in Toronto and the University of Central Arkansas.

• Suharto won a satellite tournament to gain his entry into the Main Event. He has only one live tournament in-the-money finish to his credit, 448th place in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, which earned him $26,389.

PREPARING FOR FINAL TABLE

Suharto is studious. He was playing poker live and online in the weeks leading up to competition, reading books and seeking advice. He also watched all the Main Event action on ESPN. "Maybe there are some tells I can pick up from the other finalists."

NO CHANGES

Making the final table hasn't changed Suharto's life. He continued to work, watched baseball, hung out with friends and family and played some online poker on weekends. "The only difference that I notice is that more people know me now and I do not have to worry about my mortgage anymore."

TOUGHEST FINAL TABLE FOE

Suharto wouldn't single out one player, saying it's mix of experienced players and unexperienced players all close in chip counts. "Having said that, I believe that anything can happen in poker."

ESPN POKER ANALYST NORM CHAD:

"He is the second-oldest player left in the field, which speaks to the youthful state of no-limit tournament hold 'em in 2008. Darus is quiet, respectful and a big fan of fellow Canadian Daniel Negreanu. Plus, he's a CPA. The last time an unknown accountant won the Main Event, it set off a poker boom; nobody would mind a second boom, or at least a boomlet."
