Golden Gaming’s slot route subsidiary charged with three-count complaint

The slot machine route operation subsidiary of tavern and casino owner Golden Gaming was charged with a three-count complaint by the Gaming Control Board for failing to notify regulators that it was operating 10 games at a Las Vegas tavern.

The complaint, filed last week by the control board, said Golden Route operations added 10 slot machines to The 25 Bar & Grill, 4531 Las Vegas Blvd. North, between September 2011 and December 2011. The company is facing $30,000 in fines — $10,000 per complaint — at a yet-to-be-scheduled hearing in front of the Nevada Gaming Commission.

According to the complaint, neither Golden Route Operations, nor the operator of the tavern, had been issued a gaming license for the business.

In the complaint, Golden Route Operations told gaming agents the company was unaware the tavern’s manager did not have approval from the owner to enter into a participation agreement with the slot machine route operator.

Golden Route reportedly paid gaming revenues of $20,552 to the bar’s operator over an undisclosed time period, according to the complaint.

In September, the tavern’s owner, Burdett Edward Jones, agreed to pay a $2,000 fine to the Nevada Gaming Commission to settle a four-count complaint that included similar charges, as well as an unlawful transfer of interest in a gaming operation.

Golden Gaming’s slot machine route operations is the largest in the state, with 8,500 games in some 650 locations.
