More tech companies moving to Nevada

More tech companies are on their way into Nevada.
CAEK Inc. is relocating its headquarters from Arkansas to Reno. Its software allows independent health-care providers to meet the federal requirements of the HIPAA security rule while reducing its risk in liability and having to be absorbed by a large health-care system.
“We are a fully female female-led software company,” said Katie Lay, CAEK Inc. co-founder and vice president of sales. “We are very proud of that as we (women) are 2 percent of the technology industry.”
The software will help ensure the longevity of family-owned general practices, she said.
The company will invest approximately $636,259 for capital equipment in the first two years and plans to hire 62 employees within the first two years at an average wage of $27.52 per hour.
The Governor’s Office of Economic Development board approved $157,776 in tax abatements for CAEK Inc. CAEK is estimated to generate $6.7 million in new tax revenue over 10 years.
In other action Thursday, the board approved spending a total over $7.8 million in tax abatements in return for over $72.5 million in new tax revenue, including the following:
• Clasen Quality Coatings Inc. will receive $1,287,893 in tax abatements and is estimated to generate $6,409,174 in new tax revenue over 10 years. Clasen Quality Coatings is a supplier of both standard and customized confectionery coatings and chocolate across North America.
• Cosmetic Enterprises LTD will receive $654,018 in tax abatements and is estimated to generate $2,425,399 in new tax revenue over 10 years. Cosmetic Enterprises formulates, manufactures and packages cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
• MBD Wheel and Brake Repair Services LLC will receive $640,709 in tax abatements and is estimated to generate $3,767,805 in new tax revenue over 10 years. MBD Wheel and Brake Repair Services is a rapid-response provider of aircraft wheel and brake repair and overhaul services. The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance also helped to recruit this company to Southern Nevada.
• Thrive Market Inc. will receive $258,352 in tax abatements and is estimated to generate $13,786,963 in new tax revenue over ten years. Thrive Market is an online store that sells specialty and organic food and beauty products at wholesale prices.
• The Webstaurant Store Inc. will receive $204,037 in tax abatements and is estimated to generate $2,144,135 in new tax revenue over 10 years. The Webstaurant Store is an online restaurant supply company.
