Dining Pick of the Week: Mr. Jim’s Pizza

Mr. Jim’s Pizza

7181 N. Hualapai Way near Elkhorn Road, 702-727-8388

Sparse dining options in the far northwest have given some of the larger pizza chains a stronghold on the Providence neighborhood, but Mr. Jim’s is a neighborhood pizza joint with pies that taste anything but mass-produced. Touting “It’s the crust,” the pizzeria’s menu features Original and Pizza D’Lish crust styles, the latter being a thinner version of the fresh, hand-stretched dough that Mr. Jim’s says also has less fat and fewer calories than the Original (it also costs a bit less, although it is available only in the large size). Pizza D’Lish can be ordered with toppings of your choice, or you can select from four combinations, such as Burger D’Lish or Vegi D’Lish. The Original pizza is available in four sizes as create your own or as one of nine Specialty pizzas, such as Beddar Cheddar Burger or Jimaterian, or Premier pizzas, such as Meat Eaters or Cheddar Chicken Fajita. Once you’ve selected your crust style and topping choices, you can add some sides: Jim Stix (cheesy garlic bread), Chicken Nacho Stix, Beef Nacho Stix or Bread Buds, small slices of bread covered in garlic sauce and Parmesan cheese with pizza sauce for dipping. The menu also features salads, chicken wings and nuggets, pasta and the Jimzoni, Mr. Jim’s version of a calzone with three pizza toppings of your choice baked inside. For dessert, there are Cin Stix (like Jim Stix but made with cinnamon, sugar and icing), Supreme Brownie Bites and Blue Bell Ice Cream. Numerous combination deals are offered at mrjims.com. Mr. Jim’s is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
