Dining Pick of the Week: Table 89

Table 89

7160 N. Durango Drive, 702-365-7777

Diners wandering into the spot that once housed Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill in the Montecito Marketplace are now greeted by a new fast-casual concept called Table 89. The new eatery is owned by the creators of Sammy’s and features many of the same menu items but without the wait staff. Instead of being shown to a table, diners order and pay at the front counter and then seat themselves. Your food is then brought to your table. Although Table 89’s menu is smaller than the original Sammy’s, it includes a lot of old favorites: mini duck tacos and hummus with grilled flatbread are on the small plates menu, and woodfired pizzas include Prosciutto Pear and Margherita. The dessert menu still features Sammy’s famous Messy Sundae. The new menu, which promotes itself as being “globally inspired and locally produced,” also features fresh tomato basil soup and lobster bisque, along with salads and sandwiches, including Steak & Watercress Sandwich on multigrain or plain ciabatta, served with house-made potato chips or coleslaw. Specialty salads include Organic Wild Arugula & Beet Salad with balsamic dressing, and signature salads include Thai Shrimp Salad with spicy ginger dressing. Grilled herb ciabatta bread with various toppings (chicken, steak, shrimp, tofu, salmon) can be added on with the salads. The main plates menu includes fried chicken breast with kimchi and creamy herb dipping sauce and chicken tequila fettuccine with tequila-lime cream sauce. Menu items average $10 to $12, and desserts are around $5. A children’s menu is available for diners 10 or younger, and adults can pair their meal with wine or beer. The inside is spacious with booth and table seating, and there is a patio with covered tables. Take-out and catering are available. Table 89 is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
