In celebration of National Doughnut Day on Friday, local outlets of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are offering a free one to anyone who stops in. No purchase necessary.
The offer covers Krispy Kremes of any variety, so this seems like a good time to point out that Krispy Kreme has introduced Birthday Cake Batter and Brownie Batter doughnuts, the former with a filling that includes birthday cake batter and a topping of yellow icing and confetti sprinkles, the latter with a brownie-batter filling, chocolate icing and mini chocolate chips. …
And the new O Face Doughnuts, in the John E. Carson building at 124 S. Sixth St. downtown, is offering a free glazed doughnut Friday with the purchase of a cold-brew coffee. O Face is gaining a reputation for both sweet and savory flavors that also include s’more, Mexican chocolate, smoked salmon and pizza. …
In other restaurant news: Nove Italiano chef de cuisine Kieran Toivonen and guest Chef Luciano Pellegrini will prepare appetizers at action stations on the mezzanine level of the restaurant at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road. The appetizers will be followed by a four-course dinner in the main dining room with dishes such as grilled quail agrodolce with fregola and escarole, and grilled sardines over stewed cannellini beans and roasted mini-beets. It begins at 7 p.m. Thursday and is $105 inclusive. …
