Here are the top 10 new Vegas restaurants of 2014

Las Vegas’ restaurant realm staggered a bit for a few years during the worst of the recession, but like the most dedicated Strip imbiber it regained its footing during 2014 and partied on in high style, with openings — many of them justifiably celebrated — all over the valley. Here are my picks for the 10 best:
The first restaurant from classically trained and made-for-TV chef Giada de Laurentiis, it refocused the international spotlight on Las Vegas dining.
2. Bazaar Meat @ SLS Las Vegas
From culinary lion José Andrés, it elevates the traditional casino steakhouse with various types of meats cooked over a wood fire.
3. DB Brasserie @ the Venetian
This casual spot on the resort’s restaurant row marks the eminent chef Daniel Boulud’s return to the Strip.
4. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill @ Downtown Summerlin
Puck is well known in Las Vegas (and the rest of the universe); this is his first full-service restaurant off the Strip. (He once ran the cafe at Springs Preserve.)
5. Carson Kitchen @ John E. Carson Building
From rock ‘n’ roll chef Kerry Simon, it brings Simon’s funky, creative style to a renovated building in the funky, creative Fremont East district.
The second westside spot from the wife-and-husband team of restaurant developer Elizabeth Blau and chef Kim Canteenwalla focuses on locally sourced foods.
From brother chefs Bruce and Eric Bromberg, it offers top-quality food in conjunction with a concert venue — and bowling alley.
The celebration of Southern cuisine and barbecue honors tradition while giving it a fresh face.
9. Mercadito @ Red Rock Resort
A casual spot that brings updated Mexican dining back to Summerlin.
10. Bernard’s Bistro
An offshoot of the Lake Las Vegas restaurant, it came close to doubling options for discerning diners in Henderson.
