Murphy’s Law adds Irish flair to bar food

Ronald Memo named his new Irish-influenced bar and grill Murphy's Law because he liked the play on words.

Nearly everyone can relate to the concept of Murphy's Law, which states that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, Memo says.

"As a restaurant, you want people to remember your name and if it amuses you and puts a smile on your face, all the better," he adds.

The bar and grill opened Aug. 1 at 1590 E. Flamingo Road. It has a back East, old-style bar feel to it, Memo says, with lots of brick and a dartboard. Twelve flat-screen televisions show NFL games and some college games.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served around the clock, and an executive chef developed the menu.

"If you're looking for a traditional bar and grill menu, we have that," Memo says. "If you're looking for something healthy, we have that, and if you want something a little Irish-influenced, we have that, too."

For dessert, they decided on "delightful deep-fried decadence," which includes five items, such as deep-fried Oreos, Memo says, because people who eat dessert aren't counting calories.

Murphy's Law is open 24 hours daily. The dining room seats 32, and reservations are not required.

Entrees: Cod fillets dipped in Harp beer batter and fried, $8.95; The Vegetarian, multigrain bread with spinach artichoke spread, avocado, tomato, cucumber, onions, sprouts and sunflower seeds, $6.95; roasted turkey sandwich or wrap, $7.50

Desserts: Irish Car Bomb Brownie, a brownie soaked in Bushmills whiskey, drizzled with Baileys creme anglaise and Guinness syrup, $4.95; black and tan cheesecake drizzled with Guinness syrup and Harp creme anglaise, $5.95
