Presidio aims to offer upscale food at reasonable price

In today's economy, price point can be as important as a restaurant's cuisine.

So when Pete Kaufman opened Presidio, 2235 Village Walk Drive, in September, he tried to keep entrees less than $20 and appetizers about $10. The restaurant is one of three in Kaufman's Tavern at the District Group. With his other restaurants, Al's Garage and Balboa's Pizza at the District in Green Valley, meeting the needs of the burger and pizza crowds, Kaufman wanted Presidio to still attract families and the casual diner while offering something a bit more upscale.

"Having the knowledge of our customer base, we felt like there was a need for a nicer restaurant with affordable prices, something that fit the demographic of the District," Kaufman says.

Located where Kennedy Tavern once was, Presidio offers American cuisine with a Northern California twist to it. The restaurant is named after a San Francisco neighborhood.

The dining room seats 180 and features modern but comfortable decor. Televisions throughout the restaurant broadcast sporting events. The patio, which seats an additional 70, boasts a fire pit with fireside seating.

The restaurant is open 24 hours daily and offers a breakfast menu before 11 a.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, brunch is served with all-you-can drink mimosas and Bloody Marys until 1 p.m.
