Hard-rocking Stone Sour set to play House of Blues
“Just give the lunatic a chance,” Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor implores on “Black John,” a song equally suggestive of ZZ Top and Nine Inch Nails from the band’s latest record, “House of Gold and Bones Part 2.”
Who is this “lunatic” Taylor speaks of?
Himself, or maybe the Human, the center of the narrative of the two-part concept album in question?
Perhaps the two are really one in the same, though, as the Human’s journey from addiction and inner uncertainty to redemption mirrors Taylor’s own, real-life struggles.
Taken together, the 23 songs that constitute the two albums feel like the soundtrack to an unmade film, and who knows, maybe it will get the cinematic treatment some day. If so, there’s already plenty of material to work with: Last year, the “House of Gold and Bones” storyline was turned into a four-part graphic novel.
