Penn Jillette’s kids Moxie CrimeFighter and Zolten laugh at ‘god’

Penn Jillette’s kids, Zolten and Moxie CrimeFighter, are following in their famous Vegas father’s footsteps by laughing at the very mention of “god.”

The comedy-magic star said this week on his podcast, “Penn’s Sunday School,” he has been filming a reality show inside his house. (He wouldn’t say which show.)

The TV people asked the family about theology.

“Every time they bring up any little thing about ‘god,’ my children laugh,” said Penn, who was last seen towering over the Las Vegas skyline like Godzilla from his “Penn & Teller” wraparound ad on the Rio.

Penn and Emily Jillette’s son Z, 7, grabbed a camera at one point and declared he isn’t Jewish. But that’s because the Jillettes’ kids aren’t into any religious “ish,” apparently.

Penn is Vegas’ most outspoken celebrity atheist. Penn penned the books, “God, No!: Signs You May Already Be an Atheist and Other Magical Tales,” and “Every Day Is an Atheist Holiday!: More Magical Tales from the Bestselling Author of God, No!”

Just to be clear, I am not criticizing Penn. I am not religious. I just find it interesting to hear how a famous atheist addresses religion around his kids, and clearly Penn does too by talking about it publicly.

Also, the tone of the podcast is comedy. Penn is, after all, a comedic magician, and his podcast co-hosts are all about comedy too.

I asked the Jillettes on Twitter if they would tell me what reality show this is. They didn’t reply before deadline.

On the same podcast, Penn said his kids wanted to know what it’s like to be on TV, because they see their dad on shows all the time.

“So I said one of my motivations — this is a lie, the motivation was money — one of the motivations for bringing them in, the camera crew, was: The children could see how this was made.”

So he had two choices regarding his kids and TV.

“I could either move my children to China, where they could assemble phones, or I could have them work here on a reality show,” he joked.

Moxie, 8, has taken a shine to the reality show process, Penn said:

“Moxie’s reaction: ‘Jeff, my mic doesn’t seem right. The mic pack seems a little loose. Should my hair be more curled? Do I need to go into make up?’”

Penn also said nice things about the late great David Brenner, and he offered kindness to religious people. Check out the full podcast here.
