Southwest surroundings make way into The Clydesdale sound

Rootsy, hot-blooded and hard swingin', The Clydesdale's coed Americana is equally gritty and galvanized. Saddle up with singer/multi-instrumentalist Andrew Karasa.

What does The Clydesdale sound like?

"Old-timey country and western mixed with more attitude and rock."

Your tunes often feel very evocative of the open, unbounded nature of much of the Southwest. Do you feel like your surroundings manifest itself in your music much?

"Yes, I love the desert and I think it's beautiful. I'm glad that other people can hear the Southwest in our songs the way I hear it."

Many of your songs could double as character studies and they're full of some pretty rich storytelling. Where do those characters come from?

"Well, I believe I have a pretty vivid imagination. I love adventure stories. When I watch a movie or read a book, I feel that I could be the hero in some of those stories. I guess I picture myself as the character in the songs I write. I still want to be Indiana Jones."

Dumb, obligatory horse questions:

Broncos or Colts?

"Broncos (I grew up in Colorado), but Peyton Manning is really, really good."

Flicka or Mr. Ed?

"I never saw 'Flicka.' "

Crazy Horse or Wyld Stallions?

"I like the 'Bill and Ted' movies, and when I saw them they were complete films. I will have to go with the Wyld Stallions."
