2 people found dead in Las Vegas apartment

Two people were found dead inside an apartment Tuesday afternoon in the central Las Vegas Valley, police said.

A neighbor at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of Karen Avenue called the property manager to report a foul smell coming from an apartment, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Grant Rogers said.

The manager opened the apartment door and found a dead woman inside near the doorway. Police and medical help responded about 5 p.m. and found a second person dead inside the apartment.

Rogers said it was not clear whether their deaths were suspicious, but the bodies were “heavily decomposed.”

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify them and determine their causes of death.
