Boyfriend arrested in fatal shooting of North Las Vegas girl

A North Las Vegas girl who was shot last week died over the weekend, and police say her 16-year-old boyfriend pulled the trigger.

North Las Vegas police found the 17-year-old girl suffering from an apparent gunshot wound about 5 p.m. Thursday in the 3300 block of Bridge House, near Allen Lane and Colton Avenue.

The department did not release information about the girl Thursday, but the Clark County coroner's office has identified her as Arely Arzate-Lujan. She died Saturday at University Medical Center.

Police said the boy shot Arely Arzate-Lujan at least once with a handgun and tried to hide the firearm from investigators.

Detectives arrested the 16-year-old boy Sunday night. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of murder with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

Per state law, his identity will not be released unless district attorney's decide to charge him as an adult.

Anyone with additional information regarding this case is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111.
